                                       What We Believe and Teach

Grace Bible Church-Flint is an independent, non-denominational Bible church that believes the KING JAMES BIBLE is God’s Word.  We stand for the fundamentals of the Faith, however we differ from the mainline fundamentalism in several areas.  Below is the scriptural position on which we base our doctrinal beliefs:

GOD’S WORD:

The KING JAMES BIBLE  is God’s inspired and preserved Word without error to the exclusion of all others and exists today for English speaking people only in the Authorized Version.

SALVATION:

Salvation is a free gift without any work whatsoever (Eph 2:8,9).  Salvation is not dependent on walking the aisle, joining the church, being water baptized, turning over a new leaf, repenting of your sins, forsaking your sins, confessing your sins, asking for forgiveness of your sins or inviting Christ into your heart.  Forgiveness is available to all who believe that Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose again and that God forgave us for Christ’s sake (1 Cor 15:1-4).  Salvation is trusting completely in what Christ did in our behalf on Calvary.  All of the believers in the Dispensation of Grace have received the Atonement of Christ’s blood for their sins upon believing and trusting in the finished work of the cross and because of that fact, they have eternal security (Eph 1:13.)   We believe that this glorious truth has been hidden from the world in general by the religious system of this world that has substituted the traditions of men for the Truth.  If by Grace, it is no more of works (Rom 11:6).

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP:

Since all saved individuals are members of the body of Christ regardless of church affiliation, they are welcome (as is everyone) at Grace Bible Church-Flint, which does not maintain church membership roles.  We do not believe that any church should require more for church membership than God requires for salvation.  The Lord knoweth them that are His (2 Tim 2:19).

DENOMINATIONS:

To divide the church which is Christ’s body into denominations is unscriptural.  Since all saved individuals are members of the body of Christ there is no need to be divided into groups that were founded by men.  We have no ties to any denominations, associations or ecumenical groups.  We do associate with, and support those of like doctrine across the nation.

DOCTRINE:

We stand on the fundamentals of the faith such as the fact that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, deity of Christ, the virgin birth, the blood atonement, the inspiration of the scriptures and so forth.  We also RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH as we are instructed in 2 Timothy 2:15.  This means that we distinguish between the doctrine for the church, the body of Christ found in the Paul’s epistles ( Romans – Philemon ) and the rest of the Bible.  Since Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles (Romans 11:13, 15:16, 2 Tim 1:11) and was given the dispensation of the Grace of God (Eph 3:1-6) we are to follow him as we are told to do in 1st Cor 11:1 and Philippians 3:17.  To teach the Kingdom doctrine found in Matthew through John as doctrine for today only leads to confusion.  While all of the Bible is written for us it is evident that it is not all written to us.  Everyone divides the Bible somewhere but it is important that we “RIGHTLY” divide it.  This truth is readily seen by those who study the Bible without pre-conceived ideas.  Please note that this doctrine is not something we came up with but has been in existence since Paul and was believed by many through the years. NOTE: In Paul’s writings alone we find the doctrine, position, walk and destiny of the church.

ONE BAPTISM:

There is one baptism for the dispensation of grace and that it is spiritual (Eph. 4:5, Rom. 6:3-4, Col. 2:12, Gal. 3:27) whereby all believers are placed into the body of Christ by the Spirit (1 Cor. 12:13) and that now there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles in Christ (Rom 3:22 and 10:12).  We do not believe in water baptism for this dispensation (1 Cor. 1:167), but do recognize its importance to Israel in the past.  We are complete in Christ (Col. 2:10).

OUR MINISTRY:

  1. To have all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim. 2:4).
  2. To make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery (Eph. 3:9.
  3. To be ambassadors for Christ proclaiming the ministry of reconciliation ( 2 Cor. 5:18-20).
  4. To preach Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery so that believers would be stablished according to Paul’s gospel (Rom. 16:25-26).

1 Corinthians 4:1-2..Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.  Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

1 Corinthians 1:18..For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

We welcome anyone to come and study the Bible with us and encourage people to prove the things they hear taught by the Word of God, rather than accepting the word of man as fact.  We welcome questions from those who have a desire to study God’s Word with an open mind, realizing that much of what is taught in religion is not scriptural for today.
